Tulppa® flooring system

The Tulppa flooring solution consists of three types of pre-sloped Tulppa panels. These panels provide an easy way to create the necessary sloping for wet rooms, as the panels are pre-sloped to meet the requirements of the regulations.

The wet room solution is CE marked through ETA certification. At the moment, Ardex provides sealing products and tile mortars that have been tested to be compatible with the Tulppa flooring solution.

The flooring solution is suitable for installation over both wood and concrete surfaces. The Tulppa flooring solution provides significant cost-savings particularly with base and intermediate floors with wooden structures, where poured concrete sloping produces significant loads, as the bearing structures do not need to be unnecessarily strong. In addition, compared to poured concrete floors, the Tulppa flooring solution provides significant savings in installation costs as the solution is quicker to use and is guaranteed to produce the designed slope. The paneling of a bathroom with a floor surface of 4–6 m2 can be completed in 2–3 hours. Next, the floor is waterproofed throughout as per usual using Ardex S 1-K or Ardex 8+9 waterproofing and the panel joints are covered with Ardex SK 12 reinforcement tape. Tiles are adhered with Ardex X78 mortar.

The Tulppa flooring solution is compatible with both hydronic and electric underfloor heating solutions. For example, electric underfloor heating can be provided with an underfloor heating mat designed for renovation that is placed directly on top of the Tulppa panels. As cables require at least 5 mm of protective mortar in wet rooms, the Tulppa panel is covered throughout with a layer of poured screed approximately 10 mm thick using Ardex K 75. The floor can be waterproofed as per usual the next day. This solution will also improve the energy efficiency significantly, as the underfloor heating does not have heat up large amounts of material. The structural drawing for the solution can also be downloaded as a .dwg file under the Structural drawings section.
